Trailblazer photograph contest picks winners
Diane Mercer of Calvin, in Winn Parish, Louisiana, won first place in the photo contest sponsored by the Trailblazer Rural Development Institute and Dugdemona Soil and Water Conservation District.
The contest, held during July, featured pictures taken on the Dugdemona river in North Louisiana, to call attention to water quality on the stream which runs from its source in Lincoln Parish, through Jackson and Winn, to enter Little River at its confluence near the border of Winn, Grant, and LaSalle parishes.
First prize of $75 was awarded. Second place of $50 went to DeNeise Barlow of Jonesboro, and third place of $25 to Roy T. Mercer of Calvin. Roy Barlow of Jonesboro received honorable mention.
Winning photos were on display at the main branch of Winn Parish Library through August 1, and will be at the Winn Parish Court House through August 8, and at Pea Patch Gallery in Winnfield through August 15.
Trailblazer DRI thanked participants, and urges action to insure that Dugdemona River Watershed remains clean and suitable for wildlife and human use.
